Meal Delivery Volunteer Drivers

Use their own automobile and can choose a day(s) to deliver meals Monday – Friday. Delivery time is typically 10:00am to 12:00pm, The role of the volunteer is far more important than the meals they deliver. They are often the only contact our recipients have all day. They provide a warm smile and a caring attitude. They are a safety check to help ensure our recipient's well being. They are the eyes and ears of Meals On Wheels and often alert us to recipients with additional needs. We are able to schedule most volunteers for service near their home or office.

The volunteer picks up the meals at:
Winter Haven - 620 6th street NW, Winter Haven.
Haines City - 1st Presbyterian Church in Haines City.
Davenport - New Horizon United Methodist Church
Auburndale - 1st Church of God
Lakeland drivers pick up their meals at St Paul Lutheran Church (South) and Winn Dixie(North). Volunteers deliver approximately 8-15 meals in their area and delivery generally takes approximately one-two hours. Volunteers provide their own transportation.

About Us

In 1972, Reverend James W. Kendell, pastor of the First Christian Church, along with a group of local church members, civic organizations, and many local individuals invested their time and resources into creating the Meals On Wheels of Winter Haven program. The program was later relocated to our present location at 620 6th Street NW. MOW is a non-profit corporation, chartered by the State of Florida.

Our Mission at Meals on Wheels of Polk County shall be to provide hot, nutritionally balanced meals and a daily contact to the homebound residents of the Polk County area. Our program provides a means of independence for many of our senior citizens – in some cases, it is a means of survival. MEALS ON WHEELS, Inc., is a non-profit organization, actively supported by churches, civic organizations, businesses, and hundreds of active volunteers and residents throughout the Polk County Area.
